Wanderlust Retreat (ABN 33 650 503 516) (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs a bush camping, glamping and events property at 489 Roswill Drive, Putty NSW 2330, and this website, wanderlustretreat.com.au. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices.
1. What we collect
- When you book: your name, email address, phone number, country and any other details you enter in the booking form, the number of guests, your dates and accommodation, special requests, and your marketing choice (opt-in or not).
- When you pay: payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- When you contact us: the details you give in our contact forms, by email or by phone (for example your name, email address and message).
- When you visit the website: technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and actions taken (for example searching availability or starting a booking). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.
- When you stay with us: information needed for your stay, such as vehicle details or the names of your guests, if you give them to us.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health information). Please don’t include it in booking notes or messages unless it’s needed for your stay, for example an accessibility requirement.
2. How we use your information
- to take, confirm and manage your booking, process payments and refunds, and contact you about your stay;
- to answer your enquiries;
- to keep the property, our guests and this website safe and secure;
- to understand how people use our website and improve it;
- for marketing, as described in section 3;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
3. Marketing, including on social media
We may use your details for marketing, including on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram (Meta).
- Email marketing: if you tick the marketing box when booking (or otherwise agree), we will send you news, last-minute availability and special offers. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Advertising on social media: this website uses the Meta Pixel to measure visits, searches, enquiries and bookings, and to show relevant ads. When you book, your email address, phone number and name may be shared with Meta in an encrypted (hashed) form so bookings can be matched to our ads. We may also upload guest contact details to Meta in hashed form to show our offers to you, or to people with similar interests (for example “lookalike” audiences). Meta uses this information under its own terms and privacy policy.
You can opt out of marketing at any time, including the use of your details for social media advertising, by clicking “unsubscribe” in any marketing email or by emailing [email protected]. You can also manage the ads you see in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential: to run the website, keep it secure (for example our security and firewall service) and remember your booking progress;
- Advertising and measurement: the Meta Pixel, which sets cookies so Meta can measure and improve our ads;
- Spam protection: Google reCAPTCHA on our forms, which helps confirm you are a person and not a bot.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website, such as booking, may not work properly without essential cookies.
5. Who we share your information with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers who help us run the business and website, including Stripe (payments), our website host and security, caching and email delivery services, and Google (reCAPTCHA);
- Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising as described in section 3;
- Activity partners (for example horse riding or other local operators) only if you ask us to book something with them;
- Authorities where required or authorised by law.
6. Information stored or sent overseas
Our website and booking system are hosted in Australia (Sydney). Some of our service providers, including Meta, Stripe and Google, may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with Australian privacy law.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep booking and payment records for as long as we need them for your stay and to meet tax and accounting requirements (generally seven years). We keep marketing preferences until you opt out. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and follow up.
8. Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, a website firewall and security monitoring, restricted access to our systems, and regular updates. No system is completely secure, so please contact us straight away if you think your information has been misused.
9. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it.
10. Questions and complaints
